Upcycled Funky Shoulder Bag with Vicki Halliday
Time & Location
About the Event
All the fun of cutting up an old jacket & none of the guilt as you transform it into a funky new shoulder bag. Vicki will guide you through the decision making to select different features of your jacket to use in fun new ways & you’ll leave with a lovely new bag that helps keep textiles out of landfill.
All equipment & materials are provided for this workshop, including a selection of jackets to choose from. Feel free to bring your own jackets for repurposing, so long as they are made of woven fabrics. Check beforehand if you’re unsure. Mens blazers are ideal & they can be in damaged condition as patching & repairs add to the charm of your finished bag. If you’re bringing an old jacket, we recommend washing & hanging to dry before you bring it to the class, even if that’s not recommended for your jacket. It’s far nicer to work with a clean garment than a dirty one.
Vicki Halliday is the co-owner of The Good Stitch. Before she opened the shop, she worked in theatre & higher education, as a Costume Supervisor, Wardrobe Manager & Costume Maker.
