Sew a Rye Jacket with Vicki Halliday

Sew yourself an unlined spring jacket in this special workshop set over a Friday evening & the following Saturday. With Vicki’s support, you’ll learn loads of great techniques like sewing a collar, facings, patch pockets, understitching & buttonholes.

The Rye Jacket pattern by Sussex Seamstress is perfect for the changing seasons & can be made in any mid-weight fabric like denim, heavy linens, wool & wool blends & upholstery fabrics - great for repurposing your old curtains. You’ll need around 2m of fabric depending on your size & pattern placement. The pattern size ranges from UK 8 to 30 with corresponding bust size 33” to 55”. The workshop includes a paper copy of the pattern for you to use & keep, as well as all required equipment. You need to provide fabric, matching thread & buttons. Have a browse around the shop, we sell all these things!

On the Friday evening we’ll use your measurements to cut out the pattern & fabric. Then on the Saturday, you’ll sew up your jacket. The workshop is for only 3 people & Vicki will be supporting you at every stage so that you can build on your skills & finish a beautiful jacket to wear home.

This workshop is especially suited to sewists who have sewn at least a couple of items before, who are comfortable with sewing accurate seamlines. Relative beginners can certainly succeed, feel free to discuss with us before you book if you have any questions.
