About the Event
Learn how to stitch reverse appliqué shapes & handstitch a useful zippered pouch for keeping your sewing or knitting notions safe. There’s something charming about a handstitched pouch & zip & the only limit is your imagination for stitching stripes, circles, hearts, creatures into fabric once you know how it’s done.
All materials & equipment are provided for this workshop. We advocate for using up scraps & upcycling materials into new things & there will be lots of scrap to choose from, but feel free to bring your own too.
No experience of hand stitching is required, the techniques are quick to pick up. Once you have the principles, you might want to make these over & over again.
Liz Smith is fascinated with the creative power in pulling thread on a needle. Convinced that making something for yourself is a skill & a thrill for everyone to enjoy, she has made a career out of sharing her skills. Liz works as a textile artist, freelance costume maker & runs a variety of workshops. She uses her fabric remnants to make & sell unique textile pieces, raising money for charitable causes at garden events where the cake is as important as the makes.
