About the Event
Do you have an overlocker at home, winking at you? Maybe you’ve tried & struggled to get it working for you, or perhaps you’re a machine sewer who hasn’t used an overlocker before but you want to know what all the fuss is about. Then have we got the workshop for you! You will leave this workshop with a new jumper & with confident new overlocker sewing skills.
Vicki will teach you how to thread an overlocker, the long way & the fast way! You’ll learn all about thread, needles, blades, & how to take care of your overlocker & how to adjust for good tension.
You'll use our jumper pattern but you need to provide your own fabric, or buy from our range. 2m of 140cm sweater weight knit/jersey, made of cotton or cotton blends, will be plenty. We positively encourage upcycling garments so if you have a few old sweatshirts that you want to refashion, bring them along to patch together. We also have some jersey remnants to play with.
After a lunch break, you’ll get cracking on sewing up your garment & with Vicki’s guidance you’ll have it completed by the end of the class & feel great about continuing your overlocker journey at home.
You’ll be using one of our overlockers & all our equipment & thread is available for you. You’re welcome to buy or bring your own matching thread - remember that you can use Moon 1000m reels, you don’t have to buy the huge 5000m cops. It is possible to bring your own overlocker to this class, just get in touch with us to discuss in advance.
This class is ideal if you have experience using a sewing machine & making clothing, even if you haven’t used an overlocker before. It is not suitable for absolute sewing beginners.
