About the Event
Learn to Sew Shirring
Sew a girl’s dress or a woman’s top with shirring
Learn how to sew with shirring elastic & make a garment in this class with Vicki. Shirring is a clever way to add stretch to woven fabric, it can be used in a small panel or the whole way around a garment. Vicki will teach you how to shirr with a sewing machine plus all the tips & tricks for getting great results.
You can choose to make either a girl’s dress with shirred bodice or a woman’s top with a wide shirred neckline.
All materials are provided, including a choice of fabrics suitable for the dress or top, but feel free to bring your own fabric if you already have some - lightweight woven cottons & poly cottons are ideal, the most you’ll need is 2.2m for either make, whatever the fabric width.
You’ll sew on our Janome sewing machines & use all our equipment like scissors & pins. This class is suitable for sewists who have made a garment or two before, so it’s a great follow-on from our beginners classes as well as for more advanced sewists.
