About the Event

Learn to sew a reversible Sun Hat or Bucket Hat ready for those sunny days. Sewing this hat means practicing several handy sewing techniques such as using fusible interfacing, sewing together curved pattern pieces & top stitching. The patterns fit from age 12 months to adult 63cm head circumference & you can sew any size in the class. The Sun Hat has a wide brim for turning back to frame your face or for pulling down while you take a snooze in the sun. The Bucket Hat has a shorter side & narrow brim, so no adjustments are required while wearing.

This class includes everything you need to sew either a Sun Hat or a Bucket Hat. You’ll receive a copy of the pattern to use, including the fully illustrated instructions, plus another to keep so you can take home all the sized pieces. The class includes a choice of fabrics as well as interfacing & thread, but feel free to bring your own fabric if you already have some - woven cottons & poly cottons are ideal, from quilting fabric to curtain fabric. You’ll need about half a meter of fabric for each side of the reversible hat.

You’ll sew on our Janome sewing machines & use all our equipment like scissors & pins. This class is suitable for sewists who have made a garment or two before, so it’s a great follow-on from our beginners classes as well as for more advanced sewists.
