About the Event
This two-part class teaches you all the essentials to start knitting. As well as knit & purl stitches, you’ll learn how to cast on to begin knitting in the first lesson. You’ll start to knit a scarf & take your knitting home with you to keep practising. In the second lesson you’ll learn how to cast off, how to read patterns & what all the abbreviations mean, as well as have a chance to troubleshoot any issues. Marion is an expert knitter & she will share her top tips for sourcing patterns & picking out the right yarn for your projects.
This course will give you all the skills you need to start knitting with confidence, it is designed for the complete beginner so no experience is expected, however it is also suitable for people who have had a long break from knitting & would like a refresher on the basics. These lessons are taught in small groups so you’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and get help with your knitting.
All materials are provided including a pair of bamboo knitting needles for you to keep & enough wool yarn to practise with & knit a scarf with.
Marion Cook was taught to knit by her Grandmother and has enjoyed passing on the skill to her daughter. With over 50 years of knitting experience, she loves sharing hints and tips with fellow knitters and having those enlightening ‘have you tried it this way’ moments in a group. Marion enjoys trying out other crafts too, anything textile is fair game, but knitting is her first love and she always has several projects on the go.
