About the Event
This might be the most fun no-sew, choose-your-own-adventure project there is! Choose your fabric from a huge stack & you’ll be shown how to plan the best placement of patterns & motifs onto your lampshade. A bit of cutting, sticking & jiggery pokery later & hey presto - you’ll have a lampshade! Kits are available for 20cm & 30cm drum shades.
Of course you can bring your own fabric if you wish, half a meter of full width is plenty. We have lots to choose from that are included in the workshop & even more that you are welcome to purchase. Liz will give her best advice for types of fabrics to try & all the technical tips & tricks to make your beautiful lampshade.
If you really get the lampshade-making bug, you’ll be able to buy more kits to take away with you at a bargain price.
No previous experience is needed & all equipment & materials will be provided.
Liz Smith is fascinated with the creative power in pulling thread on a needle. Convinced that making something for yourself is a skill & a thrill for everyone to enjoy, she has made a career out of sharing her skills. Liz works as a textile artist, freelance costume maker & runs a variety of workshops. She uses her fabric remnants to make & sell unique textile pieces, raising money for charitable causes at garden events where the cake is as important as the makes.
Two and a half hours: 2pm - 4:30pm.
