About the Event
Sew a Japanese influenced project bag to carry your knitting or crochet in style. These Japanese Rice Bags, or Komebukuro, are made with 12 squares of fabric & are traditionally small and handsewn so we’ll be kicking it up a notch by machine sewing a larger version. Vicki will help you to choose fabrics that work well together & you’ll creatively patch scraps to make a rice bag that is uniquely your own.
All materials & equipment are provided but feel free to bring along any special scraps or clothing you’d like to repurpose. You will need to be comfortable using a sewing machine but this workshop is suitable for adventurous beginners.
Vicki Halliday is the co-owner of The Good Stitch. Before she opened the shop, she worked in theatre & higher education, as a Costume Supervisor, Wardrobe Manager & Costume Maker. Vicki loves sharing the joy of sewing & creating with textiles. She is a patient teacher who believes in the power of self-learning, guiding her students to find that Aha moment & to reach their sewing goals.
