About the Event
Sashiko translates as ‘little stab’ & is the Japanese form of embroidery used to strengthen & repair worn textiles. Whether stitched for decoration or to mend, sashiko is a meditative way to engage your hands & mind.
In this two and a half hour workshop, you will learn about the history & significance of the different sashiko embroidery patterns while creating them with needle & thread in linen fabric.
Liz will demonstrate how to make the running stitch that forms the basis of sashiko, as well as lots of tips & tricks to make your gorgeous embroidery. You don’t need any experience of embroidery or hand stitching. Choose a pattern or two to stitch & you’ll be shown how to transfer it onto your fabric. Your piece can be used as a patch or sewn into a pincushion or lavender bag.
